The Schliemann trench photo is striking every time — I stood there in 2019 and was surprised how close the modern road runs to the western mound. Your note about the nine-layer stratigraphy is the clearest explanation I have read for first-time visitors. Considering bringing my kids next summer, is July too brutal or should we aim for late spring?

Dear Anjali,
This may seem a slightly strange request but i’m trying to identify a certain tomb in a water colour in a 1945 book described as “Another Mughal tomb near Nizam-ud-din. I will need to send you a picture but can’t here. I can’t identify it as any of the well known tombs near Humayun’s tomb from maps/internet. Bear in mind i haven’t visited Humayun’s tomb since 1971 but I’m utterly fascinated by the Mughal dynasty and need to know!! Can you help please?
